The Game

As you become more adept at chatting with the Guardian, you'll gain the ability to peek ahead in your current book, and eventually, the entire expanse of the 37-book collection becomes accessible. Each step deeper into the VMC Universe rewards your growing mastery of the VMC lore with exclusive content, insider insights, and alternate what-if content. You can even contribute to VMC side stories.​

The VMC Universe Explorer (VUE) is an AI app. At the heart of the VUE is the Diaries Guardian, a clever AI persona tasked with protecting the  VMC diaries. The Guardian will discuss the diaries' contents, provoke your thoughts, and challenge you to uncover more profound truths. Your interactions can unlock hidden details, depending on how adeptly you navigate the clues and puzzles presented.

How to Play

In the VMC Universe, your adventure unfolds progressively. Start by exploring details from one of the VMC e-books, then go to the AI app, the VUE, to explore further and chat with the Guardian. The Guardian will ask you for a password, which you can find at the end of any chapter of a VMC book. Entering the passcode at the end of the last chapter you read will tell the Guardian where you are on the web of VMC stories.​​

The Tools You Need to Play

To enter the VMC Universe and chat with the Guardian (AI persona) and characters in the story, you need a subscription to ChatGPT Plus and a passcode. If you don’t have ChatGPT Plus and want to subscribe, visit https://chat.openai.com  and log in to your account (or create one). Once logged in, follow the prompts to upgrade to the ChatGPT Plus subscription.

Your journey into the heart of VMC begins with a single chapter on Amazon Vella. An Amazon account is required, but no purchase is necessary for the first three chapters. Subsequent chapters cost around ten to twenty cents per chapter on Vella. (As of 2024, Amazon Vella is exclusively available in the USA.) As you read the Amazon Vella chapter, you'll find a passcode at the end. Click here to start reading and fetch the passcode.
